Better sound and performance for GT86 and BRZ
A TUNING company has released a new aftermarket exhaust system for the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ, claiming lower weight and a much more characterful, enjoyable noise than the standard unit produces.
The QuickSilver unit, which fits both cars with no alterations, is designed to give “a distinctive wail from 4000rpm all the way to the redline that’s far more in keeping with the car’s driver focused character,” according to a press release from the company.
A video made to coincide with the unit’s release has been uploaded to video sharing website YouTube, where a GT86 fitted with the new exhaust is driven up and down the gears to show off the new sounds.
A weight reduction of 5kg reduces the load on the rear axle, particularly during high-speed cornering, which QuickSilver says helps to keep the car more stable.
The exhaust, which allows a freer flow of air than the standard one, is also said by the firm to have added 6-10bhp to top-end power as well as 10lb.ft of torque. It has been designed to be a straight swap for the original, with no modifications required. It can be fitted in as little as 30 minutes.
A 25-year corrosion guarantee is standard and exhausts can normally be delivered within three working days to mainland UK addresses.
Priced at £796 plus VAT the QuickSilver GT86 and BRZ exhaust is not cheap, but owners wishing to free up a little more character from the flat ‘Boxer’ four-cylinder engine might want to start saving.
