Bad weather hinders commuters
ALMOST one in five people were not able to work all their contracted hours because of the bad weather over the past week, according to a new study.
A survey of more than 2,000 workers by Green Flag Breakdown showed that one in five had been too afraid to drive because of the icy and snowy conditions, and a further 5% tried to take to the road but had to turn back.
One in eight turned to public transport instead of driving to work, the research revealed.
Green Flag reported an 88% increase in calls from stranded motorists compared with the same week last year.
